The Artitecture exhibition presents works created by various artists, each offering their unique perspectives on architecture and the built environment. Unlike architects, these artists are not constrained by the demands of functionality, such as client brief, regulations, budgets, constructability, context, sustainability and timeframes that are imposed on architects in producing a work of architecture.
This exhibition, to be held at the Justin Art House Museum (JAHM), explores the differentiation in creative process between art and architecture, prompting the question: what qualifies the design of the utilitarian to be regarded as art?
With this unencumbered freedom, what are the artists saying? Are they reflecting and critiquing how architecture is created? What impact does architecture have on our lives and what impact does it have on our future? These perspectives and ideas will be explored through interactive guided tours.
Featured artists include: Anna Ng, Ash Keating, Cat Poljski, Chun Kaifeng, Cliff Burtt, Craig Easton, Dayne Trower, Don de Leso, Glen Walls, Greer Honeywell, Gregory Bennett, Hendrik Forster, Jiang Pengyi, Justin Andrews, Justin Trendall, Kubota Fumikazu, Linda Wachtel, Louise Forthun, Maya Cohen Levy, Megan Cope, Michael Staniak, Peter Daverington, Richard Giblett, Samara Adamson-Pinczewski, Sarah Mottram, Simon Cuthbert, Sorcha Mackenzie, Stephen Bram, Stephen Haley, Yang Yongliang and Zoe Croggon.
